Family - My Why

Why

By: Heather Alexander

I never in a million years thought I'd own my own business. In my first years of teaching (sometime around 2011), I was gifted an Envirocloth and window cloth as a teacher gift. I wasn't quite sure what to think about it then, but I did know it worked wonders on our bathroom mirrors.

Fast Forward ...

In early 2019, I was invited to a party and was wowed by the products yet again. I had a 2 year old at the time and I wanted to rid my home of chemicals. I knew that some chemicals were toxic to myself and my family, but at this party I was completely blown away when my consultant said, "You clean your floors and then you let your baby crawl on those chemicals. Then where do those hands go?" She was right ... right to the mouth. My little was not only absorbing chemicals through her skin, but ingesting some as well.

I instantly knew I needed it ALL. While I made the "big bucks" as a teacher, I had to pace myself. That's when I decided, after seeing our amazing host rewards, I could do a Facebook party! I booked my party, and because I loved how the products worked (I only had the Envirocloth and Window Cloth at the time), I set to work inviting everyone I knew to my Facebook Party. Here is what I knew I had to have:

  • I had to have 8 buying guests to max out star one (I honestly don't remember what all the rewards were back then).
  • I had to have enough host dollars to buy a TON of what I wanted (Star 2)
  • Star 3 ... Bookings ... I wasn't really all about this part until ...
  • Enter Star 4 ... BIG packages but you have to have at least one booking!
If I was going to work to get that one booking, I needed to max out the rewards! Enter three bookings.

I had a great party and look at all these FREE goodies I got ($0 out of my pocket for this goodness, thank you friends and family).

I REALLY wanted that mop, but at the time it was not in my budget. My consultant at the time offered me the luxury of owning my own business, getting a discount, and of course that mop for FREE. I told her I wasn't interested.

Somewhere along the line, I did buy that mop. IT WAS GLORIOUS. Streak free shine on my LVP floors and zero chemicals. Plus, I was confident (thank you chicken demo and black light demo), that this mop was doing it's job.

As the year went on, my consultant (not in an annoying way), kept offering me the opportunity. The time never seemed right and I kept pushing it off.

Then 2020 ... the world shut down. I was still working, from home, with a toddler. While that hot mess that it was (virtual teaching) which we were not prepared for, nor knew how to take our classrooms online, we made it work. I kept seeing my consultants posts. The more information I consumed, the more I wanted to be certain that my daughter couldn't get into anything under the sink that would harm her. Plus ... a little extra money would be nice.

I pulled the trigger. In July of 2020 I joined. I consumed everything I needed to consume and did my first launch party. I quickly saw some great success and continued to educate ... my love.

Fast forward ... really fast.

January of 2023. I have now been with Norwex over 2 years. In two years, I've grown my business to 23 business owners, traveled all over the country for conferences, promoted twice, and earned extra income for my family. Oh, might I add, earned an incentive trip paid for by not me, where I got to have a monkey sit on my head (bucket list check)!

While my why may have changed over the years, my passion for teaching hasn't. I am now proud to show my daughter that I can do hard things. I am proud to show myself that I can work full-time and run a business. I am also proud that I can bring extra income in for my family so we can continue to travel.

I am so happy to be taking my business a couple steps further to be able to provide for my amazing customers.  Ever want to know more? Reach out ... I'm an open book!

Happy Chemical Free Cleaning!
